      Welcome To Isle Of Man

The Isle of Man, also known as Mann, is an island nation and self-governing British Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Ireland.

The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who holds the title of Lord of Mann. The Crown is represented by a Lieutenant Governor. Foreign relations and defence are the responsibility of the British Government.

The island has been inhabited since before 6500 BC. Gaelic cultural influence began in the 5th century AD, and the Manx language, a branch of the Gaelic languages, emerged. In 627, Edwin of Northumbria conquered the Isle of Man along with most of Mercia. In the 9th century, Norsemen established the Kingdom of the Isles. Magnus III, King of Norway, was also known as King of Mann and the Isles between 1099 and 1103.

Today, the island is known for its Manx language, Manx music, Manx cats, Manx folklore, and its National Day, Tynwald Day.

The English language is spoken by the majority of the population on the island and is also the official language. Although Manx Gaelic was the historical language and was traditionally spoken, today there are only a few individuals who speak it fluently or on a daily basis.

The Isle of Man is located in the middle of the Irish Sea, almost equidistant between England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. It lies roughly equidistant between London and Belfast. The island is geologically distinct from the geologically younger rocks that form the majority of the Scottish Highlands, and is instead part of a large continental plateau known as Laurentia.

The island has an area of 572 square kilometres (221 sq mi) and its highest point is Snaefell, 621 metres (2,037 ft) above sea level. The population is approximately 85,000, about a third of whom live in the island’s capital, Douglas. Other towns include Peel, Ramsey, Port Erin and Castletown.

The Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom, and has an independent legal system and separate financial and foreign policy. However, the UK Government is responsible for the island’s defence and international relations, and certain aspects of internal security, such as immigration. The island is a Crown Dependency, and is not part of the European Union, but has a special relationship with it, being treated as part of the European Community for the purposes of free trade in goods.

Not being part of the United Kingdom, it does not belong to the European Union or the European Economic Area. Although it does belong to the customs union of the European Union, which allows for the free movement of industrial and agricultural goods.

The free movement of citizens of the European Economic Area is also permitted under the Common Travel Area agreement.

The Isle of Man Pound is the official currency. It is not an independent monetary unit, but a special pound sterling (GBP) issued for the island.

The economy of the Isle of Man is based on a mix of agriculture, tourism, light manufacturing and financial services. The island has low taxes and no capital gains tax, inheritance tax or stamp duty, making it an attractive destination for offshore companies. The Isle of Man is also known for its motorcycle racing, with the annual Isle of Man TT race being one of the most prestigious motorcycle races in the world.

The people of the Isle of Man are called Manx. Most Manx people are of Irish and Scottish descent, with a small minority of English and Welsh descent. The Island’s official languages are English and Manx, a Gaelic language related to Irish and Scottish Gaelic.

The Isle of Man is a great place to incorporate a business or set up an offshore company. It has a very favourable tax regime, with no capital gains tax, no stamp duty and no inheritance tax. The Isle of Man is also an attractive destination for offshore companies due to its political stability, low crime rate and excellent infrastructure.
